Distinctive and recognisable design

Developed with the way dogs see and experience the world in mind.

In developing BELO products, we brought together the knowledge of designers, product development specialists and dog lovers. We paid particular attention to two important aspects of play: visual perception and the sense of touch.

Our aim was to create products that dogs find visually interesting, that feel pleasant to touch and that support different kinds of interaction during play.

SIGHT

Dogs perceive the world differently from humans. Their visual system differs from ours, so we considered the characteristics of canine vision when developing our colours.

When choosing colours, we did not want to rely solely on what humans find visually appealing. Instead, we focused on suitable colour combinations and contrasts adapted to the way dogs perceive their surroundings.

During development, we tested different shades and combinations, looking for solutions that give the products a striking, recognisable appearance.

The result is BELO’s distinctive colour palette, combining a functional approach with recognisable design.

THE SENSE OF TOUCH

What a dog sees is only one part of play. How a product feels matters too.

Think of the difference between jute and silk. Both are fabrics, yet they feel entirely different to the touch. Similarly, for dogs, a product’s shape, structure and surface play an important role in the experience of play.

That is why we paid particular attention to the texture and surface of our products.

Different designs provide different sensations when biting, chewing and playing, giving each product its own tactile character.

Our aim was to create more than a visually interesting toy: a product offering varied sensations and ways to interact.

At BELO, we believe good design is about more than appearance.

It brings together shape, colour, texture and the way a product is used.

We therefore gave every element careful thought and developed it with the end user - the dog - in mind.
